Job summary

• Ability to use precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment to monitor quality.
• Familiarity with ISO quality systems and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and adjust molding parameters to maintain quality and output.
• Lead a team to execute daily production tasks, scheduling, training, and plant upkeep.
• Perform problem solving to develop corrective actions and drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate tooling, equipment availability, repair and maintenance.
• Ensure a safe, clean work environment and compliance with company policies.
• Supervise personnel and select/develop staff.
• Verify mold set-ups, start-ups and first-piece approvals.
• Communicate daily with Production Cell Manager and prepare shift reports.
• Document tool or machine damage and escalations.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Shift supervisor is responsible for the effective management and leadership of all production and production support personnel for their respective shift. The shift supervisor must develop and maintain a staff that is focused on customer satisfaction, involved with the overall success of the organization, and continuously improves company performance in quality, price, and delivery.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Trouble shoot and adjust molding parameters to maintain quality-maximum product output.
• Lead a team to execute daily production tasks, work scheduling, training and maintaining the plant.
• Perform problem solving to develop corrective actions and initiate continuous improvement.
• Co-ordinate tooling, equipment availability, repair and maintenance.
• Ensure safe work environment and cleanliness.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.
• Selection and development of production and support staff personnel.
• Provide support to staff as required.
• Verify new mold set-ups, start-ups and 1 st piece approval.
• Monitor employee attendance, evaluations and take necessary disciplinary actions as required.
• Daily planning and coordination with the production manager to resolve any issues that would interfere with meeting quality and delivery requirements.
• Accuracy of the daily shift reports.
• Use Plex effectively. Placing product on hold, lot traceability, material adjustments and scrap tracking.
• Document any tool or machine damage that would happen on your shift and send to Production Manager.
• Complete Supervisor checklist daily.
• Other assignments as designated by the Production Manager.

QUALIFICATION:

• Excellent mechanical aptitude with a working knowledge of plastic injection molding equipment, thermoplastic resins and injection molds.
• Knowledge of set-up and tear-down procedures of injection molds.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to utilize precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment to monitor quality.
• Working knowledge of quality systems and procedures based on the ISO Standard.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years progressive manufacturing/supervisory experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Microsoft Office - Excel, word.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

May engage in frequent bending, squatting, pushing of part containers and should be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Shift Supervisor reports to the Production Cell Manager.
