Job description

The Production Supervisor position requires experience and skill in driving standardization and consistency of product creation across their functional area of responsibility, including special projects. This position is a key leader to provide daily direction in the department, support by providing technical assistance as needed, lead projects, drive consistency, and lead problem solving for areas associated with production of products within the plastics injection and compression molding equipment. The primary focus is the continuous production of quality products, reduction of downtime, ensuring equipment issues are reported and repaired, coaching and counseling employees for technical performance as well as behavioral coaching. Responsible for working with all departments to ensure smooth operation of equipment; identify trends and problems using data analysis; ensuring that people related issues are resolved quickly. This position will report directly to the Production Area Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain all policies of the company, including but not limited to CSI Standards, Health and Safety Requirements, Continuous Improvement and standard work procedures
  • Monitor customer specification sheets and appropriate processing sheets
  • Ensure responses to corrective action requests are accurate, complete and timely
  • Supervise and maintain housekeeping, 5S standards and autonomous maintenance activities
  • Supervise and assist in Injection or Compression Mold/Cell set ups and start-ups
  • Coordinate production reports
  • Delegate responsibilities to technicians and other employees, when applicable
  • Organize meetings for all employees to facilitate communication and resolve issues
  • Coordinate and schedule employee training
  • Take necessary corrective or disciplinary actions with subordinates as necessary
  • Document all employee conflicts/issues and work with the Production Manager and Human Resources to resolve
  • Daily scheduling of personnel to direct labor to necessary for the production schedule
  • Coordinate the issuing of tool repair request and maintenance work orders
  • Supervise all production employees
  • Past working experience with injection molded robots, paint line operations and complex assemblies, helpful.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ensure that (where applicable) the supply chain is made aware of their food safety obligations as our partner in the quest to deliver a safe product to the consuming public.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assure all efforts are placed with priority on meeting deadlines and completing assignments in a timely and productive manner while maintaining high standards for quality
  • Supervision experience in a food or beverage manufacturer
  • Supervision experience of hourly employees
  • May require additional hours beyond the regular schedule and weekends as needed to meet customer commitments

This is a 6:45am -6:45pm Shift.

Educational and Other Skill Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus 3-5 years injection molding experience
  • Prefer three to five years’ experience managing people in a manufacturing organization, preferably in compression or injection molding processes and in the production area utilizing such equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Must have understanding and troubleshooting knowledge of closure manufacturing and support equipment, i.e., liners, assemblies, scorers, palletizer, etc.
  • Knowledge of inspection technique
POSITION DEMANDS

Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality. This is a requirement of this position.

This role will manage employees working on shifts other than your own and to regularly set time to talk with them one-on-one on their assigned shift. Employees supervised in this area will be assigned to shifts, day or night work, or 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts. Teamwork is required of all employees in the facility including positive team communications, conflict management, problem solving, and following principles, policies, and values in the employee handbook and the facility’s-controlled documents.

Customer Interaction required. This position has both internal and external customers, so positive communication is required at all times, both written and verbal.

Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment/clothing: All hourly CSI employees in the facility are required to wear T-shirt uniforms, pants in good repair, ANSI Z41.1991 Safety Shoes, ANSI Z87.1 Safety Glasses, Approved eyewear, hairnets, gloves, and safety vests in specific applications following our GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) policies. All Salaried employees must also comply with these standards while on the manufacturing floor except the T-shirt uniform requirement.
