Job summary

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) seeks a Supervising Sterile Processing Technician to oversee staff and operations for sterilization and distribution of instruments in an acute care setting. The role emphasizes developing standards, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and leading process improvements, training staff, and managing workload.

The position requires three years of Sterile Processing Technician experience and certification through HSPA in an approved credential.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in an acute care hospital.
  • Certification as Sterile Processing/Central Service Technician through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) in one of NBSTA, CRCST, AST, CBSPD.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff and operations for receiving, storing and issuing sterilized supplies.
  • Develop standards; ensure safe, efficient instrument distribution and regulatory compliance.
  • Direct workflow, approve time off, evaluate performance and provide staff training and education.

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for a Supervising Sterile Processing Technician who supervises staff and operations involved in receiving, storing and issuing sterilization of supplies and equipment. Duties also include assisting with developing standards and ensuring the clean, safe, efficient and effective instrument and equipment distribution and availability and compliance with safety and regulatory standards; develops and implements process improvement initiatives, assigns and reviews work, directs workflow, approves time off and evaluates performance and provides staff training and education.

Located on a beautiful 70-acre campus in Colton, California (50 miles east of Los Angeles), Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a state-of-the-art, public/nonprofit, 456-bed, university affiliated teaching hospital licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation which includes drug testing, fingerprinting, and verification of employment history.

Availability: Incumbents may be required to work various shifts, holidays, night shift, weekend, on-call and call-back.

Physical: Physical agility requirements include good vision and color discrimination; fine hand manipulation and finger dexterity in both hands; working and/or reaching above and below shoulder level; using either foot to operate foot controls; ability to move up to fifty (50) lbs. manually or with assistance.

Environment: Work environment involves exposure to electricity, chemicals, infectious materials, heat, and odors.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

CANDIDATES MUST MEET BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING:

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician operating sterilizing equipment and cleaning surgical instruments and equipment in an acute care hospital.

-AND- CERTIFICATION: Must possess certification as a Sterile Processing/Central Service Technician through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) in any

one of the following:

  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA)
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
  • Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)
  • Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
    • Only accepted in conjunction with the completion of a Sterile Processing Technician course from an accredited agency.

Candidates with lead worker or supervisory experience in sterile processing are highly desired.
