Job summary

Disaster Resource Group in Orlando seeks a Supervising Professional Engineer to oversee power delivery projects, ensuring safety, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The role leads design staff, validates project deliverables, and drives technical excellence across assignments.

The candidate will hold a BS in Engineering with PE license and 8+ years of power delivery experience, with strong NESC knowledge; PMP is a plus. Travel up to 15% may be required in support of project needs.

  • Advanced knowledge of the NESC is required.
  • PMP certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure deliverables from design/engineering staff include complete material lists, requisitions, labor estimates, site drawings, and construction drawings for power delivery projects.
  • Make accurate engineering calculations.
  • Provide supervision and mentoring to assigned staff as needed.
  • Verify power delivery equipment and material such as transformers and conductors meet specifications.
  • Ensure projects comply with client specs and regulatory requirements.
  • Approve time and expense reports; participate in budget and strategic planning.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external customers to meet business goals.
  • Engage in bids, RFPs, and RFIs as required.

The purpose of the Supervising Professional Engineer position is to assure exceptional quality is provided for all projects completed for various clients in the power delivery trade. The position provides oversite to assure each project is completed in a safe, cost effective and reliable manner as well as in compliance with electrical engineering regulations .

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure deliverables released by design/engineering staff include the proper material lists, requisitions, labor estimates, site drawings and construction drawings to be used for various installations of power delivery facilities in a cost-effective manner that maximizes safety and service reliability , regulations, and compliance.
  • Make accurate engineering calculations .
  • In addition to technical oversight, th is position may provide supervision and mentoring to assigned staff.
  • Verify power delivery equipment and material such as transformers , fusing , conductor capacity, etc.
  • Verify all projects are designed and in compliance with client’s specs .
  • Approval of time and expense reports .
  • Employee development and evaluations .
  • Participate in the development and management of operational budgets and strategic priorities.
  • The incumbent is accountable for their assigned operational P&L .
  • Develop relationships with key internal and external customers while supporting both company and client’s business goals and expectations while representing themselves both positively and professionally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Lead and participate in operational and corporate initiatives .
  • Participate in the preparation bids, RFP’s and RFI’s .
  • Learn, practice, and promote ALL safety policies and procedures 100% of the time.
  • Participate in d evelop ment , training, and hir ing needs for staff as needed .
Education, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • A BS Engineering Degree in engineering , Professional Engineer registration and a minimum of 8 years of power delivery experience is required
  • Advanced knowledge of the NESC is required
  • PMP certification is preferred but not required
  • Proficient in advanced principles and practices of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, general science and scales of weight and measurements as applied to engineer’s computations and construction (using currency and other forms of measurement).
  • Proficient user of MS Project and Microsoft Office based applications .
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community.
  • Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Utilized common-sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion with business information -may be required to enter into an NDA.
  • Self-motivated, savvy, reliable, trustworthy, as well as technically competent.
  • Demonstrated team player.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • The incumbent will perform all tasks with minimum supervision from upper management.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to constructively manage multiple tasks .
  • Possess valid driver’s license and vehicle suitable for business use (mileage reimbursement may apply).
  • Ability to travel up to 15%. Overnight stay may be required.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Physical Functions : Physical requirements involve performing general office activities. This role will be required to regularly, walk up to 2 miles per day. The role will also occasionally sit, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms, and will occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Environment : Indoor climate-controlled office environment. Occasional overnight travel is required.

Proper Personal Equipment : Hard hat, safety glasses, work gloves, ID card, cellular phone, EH rated footwear with toe box OSHA Ratings, PVD's, DRG Safety Traffic Vest.

The Supervising Professional Engineer is a high-level management position in the Design/ Engineering department. This position requires as BS Engineering degree with Professional Engineering registration and a minimum of 8 years of experience. This position can lead to increased management responsibilities resulting in upward promotions.
