Current employees in the unclassified service in the County of Los Angeles who meet the following criteria are also eligible:

  • Unclassified employees who have attained permanent County status in a classified position after completing their initial probationary period, with no break in service.
  • OR full-time employees in the unclassified service with at least six months of full-time experience in the unclassified service at the time of filing.

THE TEAM MEMBER WE ARE SEEKING:

We are looking for a Supervising Orthopedic Technician to oversee orthopedic services in inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring quality and compliance.

  • Provides administrative supervision, including shift assignments, evaluations, and grievance resolution.
  • Serves as a technical resource on orthopedic devices.
  • Prepares budget requests and recommends staffing and equipment needs.
  • Participates in hiring and evaluates technician work quality.
  • Plans training curricula for technicians and interns.
  • Represents the unit in meetings and communicates with patients and families about orthopedic procedures.
  • Decides on orthopedic equipment needs based on provider orders and patient descriptions.
  • Maintains orthopedic equipment and assists in operating room procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Option I: Three (3) years of experience as an Orthopedic Technician, planning, fabricating, and applying orthopedic devices.

-OR-

Option II: One (1) year as a Senior Orthopedic Technician providing oversight and planning orthopedic care.

LICENSE: Valid California Class C Driver License or alternative transportation method.

PHYSICAL CLASS: Class III – Moderate physical activity required.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Additional experience exceeding minimum requirements.
  • Orthopedic training certification from an accredited institution.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Experience levels are defined as working with orthopedic devices and assisting with difficult cases and guidance.

EXAMINATION: Evaluation of training and experience, weighted 100%. A score of 70% or higher is passing.

ELIGIBILITY: The register is valid for 12 months. Applications are processed as received. No more than one exam per 12 months.

VACANCY AND SHIFT: Positions may be located across various sites and require working any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
