Purpose

The Supervising Attorney oversees the Alabama Division, managing attorneys and staff serving mortgage lenders, servicers, banks, and investors in the region. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and investor guidelines, managing the department's P&L, and leading a team of legal professionals in mortgage foreclosure processes and civil litigation. The role involves developing legal strategies, mitigating client exposure, and actively growing the business.

Responsibilities
  • Attend mediations, trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings as required.
  • Ensure legal compliance, risk mitigation, and cost control in line with CFPB and OCC regulations.
  • Collaborate with various departments such as Bankruptcy, Litigation, Title, REO, HR, Accounting, and IT to ensure operational and legal compliance.
  • Manage attorneys and paralegals within the department.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and goals.
  • Travel as needed for client meetings, court appearances, and conferences.
  • Engage in client communication, article writing, and presentations.
  • Participate in marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple cases and projects effectively.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice in Alabama.
  • Preferred: Licensed in Georgia and Tennessee.
  • Minimum of eight years' litigation experience, including foreclosure, title, bankruptcy, and evictions.
  • Active member of the state Bar, with ongoing legal education.
  • Expertise in mortgage foreclosure and civil litigation.
  • Experience managing teams and P&L responsibilities.
