The Superior Court ADA will report to the First Assistant District Attorney.

Salary: $100,000-$110,000, commensurate with experience.

The Berkshire District Attorney’s Office seeks to hire a full-time attorney to join the Superior Court Prosecution team.

The Office serves all 32 cities and towns in Berkshire County and handles all criminal prosecutions in the area, established under Massachusetts law.

Responsibilities

• This position is for a trial attorney focusing on Sexual Assault, Firearm, Violent Crime, and Narcotics cases in the Superior Court.
• Review case files, applicable statutes, case law, victim information, police reports, and police charging decisions; make appropriate recommendations.
• Prepare and present cases to the Grand Jury for indictment consideration.
• Handle pre-trial motions, motions to suppress and dismiss, and prepare related legal memoranda.
• Prepare and present motions in limine and voir dire motions under Mass. R. Crim. Pro 17.
• Interview witnesses and prepare them for testimony.
• Draft opening statements, closing arguments, and conduct examinations.
• Review jury instructions and gather evidence to prove charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
• Coordinate with victim witness advocates and handle case disposals by plea or trial.
