Job summary

Nabholz Construction seeks a Project Superintendent (Water/Wastewater) to lead on-site production for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pump stations, treatment upgrades, and yard piping. You will direct craftspeople, subcontractors, and vendors, ensure compliance with designs, permits, and owner standards, and manage schedules and safety programs.

Summary:

Project Superintendent (Water/Wastewater) has full responsibility for onsite production of assigned water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including water distribution, wastewater collection and conveyance, pump/lift stations, treatment plant rehabilitation, process upgrades, yard piping, and related civil scopes. Superintendent is responsible for directing craftspeople, specialty subcontractors, and vendors; administering the Quality Management System; assuring conformity to design documents, specifications, permit requirements, and owner/operator standards; maintaining sequences to meet schedule; conducting jobsite meetings; scheduling owned equipment; coordinating shutdowns, tie-ins, testing, startup, and turnover activities; and administering the jobsite safety program toward an achievable goal of zero incidents. Superintendents are expected to conform to corporate policies and procedures, uphold ethical standards, and exemplify corporate values, with an emphasis on integrity and service. Superintendents report directly to General Superintendent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Enforce Project-Specific Safety Plan and ensure compliance with all other Nabholz, OSHA, and project-specific safety policies, including trenching/shoring, confined space, bypass pumping, utility protection, and work in operating water/wastewater facilities as applicable.
• Plan and supervise Crew Leaders and craft activities for water/wastewater construction. Determine method of construction, necessary manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, bypass/shutdown needs, and work schedule. Document actual hours worked.
• Coordinate assigned work of different crafts, company departments, specialty subcontractors, equipment vendors, utility operators, or other contractors.
• Maintain liaison with Owner, Design Team, Project Manager, utility operators, inspectors, and regulatory representatives to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, permits, operating constraints, and schedule.
• Lead in developing and implementing plan of resolution for construction problems, including utility conflicts, tie-in sequencing, bypass operations, testing, startup, and treatment/process coordination issues.
• Maintain communications with Employee Services and/or Production departments to resolve disputes, requisition manpower, and correct safety issues, etc.
• Daily detailed reporting of manpower, resources, safety, work progress, environmental conditions, material delivery, shutdowns, tie-ins, testing activities, and owner/operator coordination.
• Accurately and thoroughly document existing jobsite conditions, active utilities, treatment/process operations, shutdown requirements, and work progress.
• Thorough understanding of architectural, civil, structural, mechanical/process, electrical, instrumentation/control, and engineering plans and specifications related to water/wastewater work.
• Maintain open and positive direct lines of communication among Owner, Design Team, Project Management, General Superintendent, utility operators, equipment vendors, and Subcontractor Team.
• Plan and lead jobsite meetings, including pre-installation, coordination, shutdown/tie-in, bypass, testing, startup, commissioning, and turnover meetings as applicable.
• Proactively manage and drive construction schedules, engaging Subcontractor Team, Crew Leaders, and other Site Superintendents to accurately anticipate short-term and long-term schedule activities, including shutdowns, tie-ins, bypass pumping, testing, commissioning, and owner/operator access constraints.
• Administer Subcontracts and purchase orders to ensure compliance with contract language, scope of work, terms and conditions, technical requirements, equipment/vendor obligations, and other provisions.
• When required, provide accurate reporting of jobsite productivity, tracking quantities such as pipe footage, structures, valves, equipment, concrete, employee hours, equipment-hours, testing, delivery tickets, etc.
• Collect, accurately code, and submit all delivery tickets, receipts, invoices, testing documentation, and equipment/vendor delivery records for Project Management team.
• This job is safety sensitive for medical marijuana purposes.
• This position requires driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company or a company vehicle; therefore, the applicant must successfully complete a motor vehicle records check, possess, and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, and immediately self-report convictions/violations/tickets to the DOT Compliance Specialist as per Company Policy.Any negative change in the status of the employee’s driving record may result in the revocation of the employee’s privilege to drive for the company.

Education/Skill Requirements :

• Educational requirements include a 4-year college degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience.
• Career experience must include at least 5 years of supervision in commercial construction; heavy civil, municipal utility, water/wastewater, treatment/process, or underground utility experience is strongly preferred. Residential construction experience will not be considered.
• Commercial construction experience must include construction means, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures, as well as advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and water/wastewater utility or treatment sequencing when applicable.
• Commercial construction experience must include control and supervision of large groups of craftspeople and subcontractor crews on civil, utility, or water/wastewater scopes.
• Good written and oral communication.
• Must be willing and able to speak before groups of people in project interviews and other presentations.
• OSHA-30 trained.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Scheduling software(s).
• Proactively develop solutions to construction field issues that arise, including utility conflicts, operating-facility constraints, and specialty trade coordination, and follow appropriate communication protocol to implement solutions.
• Carry out such other instructions, directions and duties as the Company may request from time to time.

Physical Demands :

• Continuously sit, stand, or walk.
• Bend, squat, climb stairs, and ladders.
• Lift up to 20 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Work environment :

• Job trailer/office, jobsite, active water/wastewater facilities, operating treatment plants, lift/pump stations, utility corridors, or roadway/public infrastructure environments.
• Work in extreme weather may be required.
• Work in high elevations may be required.
• Temporary relocation or travel may be required for projects out of town.
