McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a Process Mechanical Superintendent to lead field execution of complex process mechanical work on water and industrial projects. You will manage self-perform crews, supervise subcontractors when needed, and drive safety, quality, and productivity on site.

You will interpret contract documents, coordinate with owners and inspectors, and support isometric/shop drawings and material planning to ensure first-time quality and schedule alignment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in highly complex water or industrial construction projects.
  • Process mechanical experience required.
  • Self-perform experience is required.
  • Geographically mobile and able to relocate within a region is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a large team environment with a problem-solving, project-first mentality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementation of project-specific safety and accident prevention programs and maintain safe work areas through regular job-site inspections.
  • Lead McCarthys Task Hazard Analysis (THA) process and implement all safety and EEO/Affirmative Action programs
  • Maintain thorough understanding of project schedule and budget, enforcing plans and motivating employees to follow through
  • Assist project superintendent in locating/onboarding manpower, developing/implementing project plans and maintaining current contract documents
  • Schedule and manage multiple crews performing various tasks across the project site
  • Allocate resources, plan activities, review work and manage consumables/equipment, including compiling a comprehensive bill of materials and coordinating deliveries
  • Comprehend contract drawings/specifications and communicate with owners, inspectors and other trades
  • Assist with the development of in-house fabrication and shop drawings, as well as the review and coordination of fabricator supplied shop drawings
  • Support project engineers with submittal preparation and review, while ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of materials

POSITION SUMMARY

The Process Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for leading field execution of complex process mechanical work on large water and industrial projects, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity. This role plans and manages multiple self-perform process mechanical crews and could also supervise subcontractors, they oversee implementation of project-specific safety programs and task hazard analyses, and drives adherence to schedule and budget. The Process Mechanical Superintendent interprets contract documents and process mechanical drawings, coordinates with owners, inspectors, and other trades, and supports project teams with isometric drawings, shop drawings, and material planning. They play a key role in resolving field issues in real time, ensuring work is installed correctly the first time, and fostering a collaborative, problem-solving culture across the project team.
