Overview

The Superintendent role is responsible for coordinating activities related to a construction project on-site, ensuring work is completed ahead of schedule, within budget, and according to specifications. Duties vary depending on the client and project size.

Location & Travel Details: You can be based in any city or state in the U.S. This is a traveling, project-based position, up to 90% travel. You’ll spend 8-18 months on average per project, with designated per diem, a competitive salary, mobilization support, and a company vehicle or allowance. Every four weeks, you get a longer weekend for additional time at home.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform duties required of a foreman.
  • Coordinate and delegate site activities to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Coordinate activities of subcontractors.
  • Work with clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Ensure timely delivery and proper handling of materials.
  • Document damages, change requests, and manage paperwork.
  • Plan materials and equipment needs.
  • Review specifications, blueprints, and change orders.
  • Perform minor job layouts and quality checks.
  • Monitor productivity and payroll.
  • Handle customer complaints and safety equipment compliance.
  • Establish good client relationships and facilitate training.
  • Manage, lead, and mentor team members.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise 1-2 foremen and crews up to 30+ employees.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in heavy industrial construction.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Keen knowledge of safety programs and regulations.
  • Ability to lead toolbox meetings and set a safety example.
  • Proficiency with construction tools, machinery, and methods.
  • Cost forecasting and monitoring skills.
  • Understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and blueprint reading.
  • Leadership, communication, and motivation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and internet.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and documents.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks and work in outdoor conditions.

Physical Demands

  • Work up to 12 hours in varying outdoor conditions, including lifting up to 50 pounds, working at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Use safety equipment and protective gear as required.
  • Visual and auditory acuity, balance, and coordination are necessary.

Hours & Travel

Full-time, typically 50 hours/week, with up to 90% travel. Schedule varies based on project needs.
