Summary
Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent responsible for coordinating, planning, and supervising assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a specific discipline area. The role focuses on developing and enhancing customer relationships by providing excellent service.
This position offers opportunities at levels 1 and 2, allowing candidates to apply based on experience and qualifications. Compensation is determined by experience, location, and other factors.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
- Review construction documents for completeness and constructability, understand contract documents, and coordinate plans with design engineers.
- Develop and manage the project schedule, site logistics plan, utilize tools and equipment, and collaborate with project partner superintendents.
- Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, site meetings, and supervise project partners; interview, hire, transfer, or dismiss team members as needed.
- Ensure proper task coding, lead and track work progress, handle team member training, and conduct career‑development discussions.
- Build effective relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
- Lead by example, offer coaching and feedback, and manage performance.
- Provide high‑level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance, recognize and mitigate unfavorable conditions, and seek process improvements.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field, OR 10 years trade experience.
- Current driver’s license.
- Ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects.
- Detail‑oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
- Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate company policies.
- Effective communication and active listening skills, openness to diverse input and feedback, and ability to travel up to 100%.

Superintendent I
- Minimum 5 years construction management or related experience.
- Base pay range: $111,400 – $167,100.
Superintendent II
- Minimum 8 years construction management or related experience.
- Base pay range: $130,100 – $195,200.
