Job summary

Georgia-Pacific in Huntsville, Alabama, is seeking a transformational Converting Superintendent to lead production supervisors and team members on the corrugated line. You will drive safety, quality, and efficiency on the plant floor.

You will coach teams, align priorities with commercial goals, and partner with plant leadership to deliver high quality products at competitive costs. A strong manufacturing supervisory background and a bachelor’s degree are preferred; corrugated operations

  • Coach, train, and develop operations personnel in safety, quality, production, problem solving, and communication.
  • Align operational priorities with the commercial business vision to deliver high quality products at the lowest costs.
  • Partner with plant leadership to enhance performance, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and develop value-added practices.
  • Create and maintain a cohesive team of empowered leaders and maintain a positive work environment.

What You Will Do
  • Provide transformational leadership on the operating floor striving for compliance in safety, health, environmental, and quality.
  • Coach, train, and develop operations personnel in safety, quality, production, problem solving, and technical and interpersonal communication skills
  • Identify and align operational priorities with commercial business vision - ensure production and delivery of the highest quality products at the lowest costs, consistent with customer requirements, company plans and profit objectives
  • Partner with plant leadership to enhance facility performance and metrics - lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and develop innovative practices, methods and procedures that add value for the facility
  • Create and maintain a cohesive team of empowered leaders and provide coaching and development
  • Maintain a positive work environment for all employees, fostering a bottom up approach to employee engagement
  • Spend time on the floor engaging with employees and oversee plant operations as appropriate
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing, military, or industrial environment
  • Experience setting and achieving production and continuous improvement goals
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Corrugated manufacturing operations leadership experience with multiple direct reports
  • Previous experience partnering with and/or leading a maintenance department to ensure reliability goals are met
