Job summary

MPI is seeking a Construction Superintendent in Pittsburgh to oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget compliance while coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring safety, codes, and specifications.

• Oversee procurement and delivery of materials, monitoring inventory to prevent delays.
• Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, quality, and safety, addressing issues promptly.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to align objectives and resolve conflicts.
• Provide leadership to on-site personnel and foster a productive work environment.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation: daily reports, meeting minutes, change orders, as-built drawings.
• Monitor project budget and expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities and prevent overruns.
• Enforce project policies and safety/environmental regulations; serve as liaison with stakeholders.

Description

This Superintendent will:

• Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, building codes, and project specifications.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating with subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely completion of tasks and milestones.
• Oversee the procurement and delivery of materials and equipment, monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with suppliers to prevent delays.
• Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, quality, and safety, identifying and addressing any issues or discrepancies promptly.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors, to ensure alignment of objectives and effective resolution of any conflicts or challenges.
• Provide leadership and guidance to on-site personnel, including subcontractors, foremen, and laborers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily progress reports, meeting minutes, change orders, and as-built drawings.
• Monitor project budget and expenses, identifying opportunities for cost savings and implementing measures to prevent budget overruns.
• Implement and enforce project policies and procedures, including safety protocols, quality standards, and environmental regulations.
• Serve as a liaison between the construction team and project stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns or questions.

Profile

A successful Superintendent will have:

• Proven experience as a construction superintendent or similar role, with a track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials, as well as building codes and regulations.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Solid organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• OSHA certification and other relevant safety training preferred.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
