Job Summary
The Superintendent is Sela’s on-site leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of projects to ensure ongoing safety and on-time and on-budget completion of each project.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for our superintendent include: Site management and overseeing all aspects of each construction project from planning to implementation. Allocating resources, leading and supervising team members and subcontractors, coordination of crews, subcontractors, architects, engineers, city and county officials and our clients. , safety, quality control and compliance, resource and budget oversight of labor, materials and equipment, communication among all stakeholders and proactive and timely problem-solving.
*** If you have a minimum of 3-5 years supervisory experience in a commercial construction company, we will train you to become superintendent. Note, your experience MUST BE in new or remodeling of commercial construction like Quick Serve Restaurant, Banks, medical offices, etc. ***
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Plan and oversee materials, inspections, and craft activities, determining methods of construction, workforce levels, and work schedules.
Coordinate assigned tasks with other trades, company departments, and contractors.
Maintain a liaison with engineers, architects, owners, and inspectors to ensure compliance with specifications and timelines.
Proactively address construction issues, offering at least two potential solutions when problems arise.
Monitor subcontractor adherence to safety protocols and document safety meetings; implement corrective actions as necessary.
Liaise with material control, purchasing, quality control, and engineering teams to ensure timely material and equipment delivery.
Attain proficiency in Procore and contribute to company sales through client networking.
Propose improvements and cost-saving ideas for project operations.
Follow detailed procedures and maintain attention to detail in drawings and documents.
Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with stakeholders.
Prepare accurate estimates by performing job takeoffs according to project scope.
Review design options and recommend cost-effective solutions.
Follow the superintendent handbook to uphold quality and customer satisfaction.
As a safety committee member, develop and implement safety instructions to eliminate hazards.
Undertake additional tasks as directed by management.
General Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of relevant experience
Minimum 3-5 years of commercial construction experience
A combination of the above
A reliable car (truck ) and ability to travel to/from construction projects in North Carolina, within 300 miles of Elkin NC.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High standards of workmanship and adherence to Company procedures and guidelines
The ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical situations.
Demonstrated data analysis and problem solving ability
Superior attention to details and meeting deadlines
A team player and a leader focused on minimizing friction and maximizing collaboration
Specific Requirements
Proficiency with Procore
Excellent negotiation skills
Excellent ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, local and government building codes and safety regulations
OSHA certification is a plus
Physical Demands
Must be physically capable of handling job responsibilities, including lifting to 100 pounds and performing various physical tasks.
