Job summary

Straight Edge Contractors in Texas is seeking a hands-on construction Superintendent with strong field knowledge to plan projects, manage foremen and crews, coordinate equipment and materials, read plans, solve field problems, and keep projects on schedule and within budget.

You will oversee multiple active projects, coordinate crews, review plans, monitor progress, and enforce safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of civil construction experience preferred.
  • Experience as Construction Superintendent, General Superintendent, Foreman, or similar field leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt, concrete, demolition/earthwork, striping, and thermoplastic pavement markings.
  • Must be able to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • Ability to understand elevations, grades, measurements, quantities, and layouts.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally with employees, inspectors, clients, general contractors, and management.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Basic computer and smartphone skills required for project communication, documentation, photos, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple active projects and field crews.
  • Coordinate and supervise foremen, operators, and laborers.
  • Plan daily and weekly field operations to keep projects on schedule.
  • Review plans, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements before work begins.
  • Understand project quantities, elevations, layouts, and construction details.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, trucking, subcontractors, and deliveries.
  • Make sure crews have everything needed before arriving at the jobsite.
  • Assign the right employees and equipment to each project based on capabilities and production needs.
  • Monitor daily production and identify delays or productivity issues.
  • Maintain quality control and verify work is completed according to plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate inspections and communicate with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades.
  • Identify field conflicts early and develop practical solutions.
  • Monitor equipment condition and ensure maintenance or repair issues are reported promptly.
  • Enforce company safety requirements and jobsite procedures.
  • Maintain professional and organized jobsites, equipment, trucks, and crews.
  • Review and verify employee hours and daily field reports.
  • Document project progress, quantities completed, delays, additional work, and jobsite issues.
  • Communicate project and operational updates to management daily.
  • Help train and hold foremen accountable for crew performance, productivity, safety, and quality.

Job description

We are looking for a hands-on superintendent with strong field knowledge who can plan projects, manage foremen and crews, coordinate equipment and materials, read plans, solve field problems, and keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Required Civil Construction Experience:

Candidates should have experience managing multiple scopes of work, including:

  • Asphalt Paving – demolition, subgrade/base preparation, grading, paving, compaction, and repairs.
  • Concrete – sidewalks, curb & gutter, valley gutters, driveways, ramps, slabs, forming, reinforcement, placement, and finishing.
  • Demolition & Earthwork – concrete/asphalt removal, excavation, grading, hauling, and site preparation.
  • Pavement Markings – parking lots, roadways, traffic paint, layouts, restriping, and new layouts.
  • Thermoplastic Pavement Markings – layout, application, equipment operation, and quality control.
  • Experience with traffic signs, wheel stops, crack sealing, seal coating, or similar pavement maintenance work is a plus.

  • Must be able to communicate professionally with employees, inspectors, clients, general contractors, and management.
  • Valid driver's license required.
