Job summary

VCC is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead university/institutional projects from mobilization through completion.

You will supervise ground-up commercial construction, drive safety culture, manage schedule and cost, and coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and suppliers. Travel to project sites is required; Azusa, CA is a primary location consideration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years supervising ground-up commercial construction with a general contractor.
• Experience leading multimillion dollar university/institutional projects.
• Willingness to travel as business requires.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Located near or willing to travel to Azusa, CA.

Responsibilities

• Enforce safety policies and build a culture of jobsite safety.
• Drive schedule performance and coordinate subcontractors in proper sequence.
• Plan construction procedures aligned with contract documents and specifications.
• Lead weekly subcontractor meetings and manage 3-week look-ahead schedules.
• Inspect work to ensure quality and specification adherence.
• Collaborate with General Superintendents, engineers, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve issues and improve construction methods.
• Coordinate material delivery and expediting with the Project Engineer.
• Obtain and monitor permits, inspections, and compliance requirements.
• Review cost reports and process back charges per SOP.
• Manage time and material approvals.
• Maintain daily documentation: reports, punch lists, billing sheets, and jobsite records.
