Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to lead field operations on the company’s largest, most complex, technically challenging, and highest-risk commercial construction projects.
This is a senior field leadership position for an accomplished builder who can take ownership of the entire jobsite from mobilization through completion, and provide the construction judgment necessary to keep complex projects safe, organized, on schedule, and at the highest level of quality.
The Senior Superintendent is not simply responsible for managing daily activities. This individual is responsible for leading the entire field operation, establishing the execution strategy, managing competing priorities, developing field leaders, and making critical decisions when project conditions change or the stakes are high.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of successfully delivering complex commercial or institutional projects and has the leadership presence to earn the confidence of subcontractors, clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, and internal project leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead overall field operations on the company’s largest, most complex, or highest-risk construction projects.
  • Take ultimate field responsibility for safety, quality, schedule execution, logistics, sequencing, and trade coordination.
  • Establish and execute the field strategy from mobilization through project completion.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor multiple Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel.
  • Work closely with Project Management and company leadership to develop and execute the overall project plan.
  • Drive critical path planning and proactively manage schedule risks.
  • Coordinate complex construction activities involving multiple trades, phases, occupied spaces, renovations, or technically demanding work.
  • Anticipate field, constructability, logistics, sequencing, and coordination challenges before they affect project performance.
  • Make high-level field decisions that protect safety, schedule, quality, and the company’s professional and financial interests.
  • Lead major subcontractor coordination meetings and hold trade partners accountable for manpower, productivity, safety, quality, and schedule commitments.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, inspectors, and other key project stakeholders.
  • Oversee complex site logistics, access plans, material movement, equipment coordination, and workforce management.
  • Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and coordination requirements to identify potential issues before they reach the field.
  • Partner with Project Management to resolve significant schedule, coordination, constructability, and execution challenges.
  • Maintain the highest standards of jobsite safety and quality throughout construction.
  • Lead inspections, punch list activities, commissioning coordination, project turnover, and final field closeout.
  • Serve as a senior technical and field resource for S1 and S2 Superintendents.
  • Help establish and reinforce company field standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Represent the company as a senior field leader and trusted builder.
Leadership Expectations

The Senior Superintendent is expected to bring:

  • Exceptional construction judgment and field experience.
  • Strong command of complex jobsites.
  • The ability to lead effectively through uncertainty and changing conditions.
  • Confidence to make difficult decisions and take ownership of the outcome.
  • A proactive approach to risk management.
  • Strong accountability and leadership presence.
  • The ability to develop and elevate other field leaders.
  • The ability to maintain productive relationships while holding trade partners accountable.
  • A reputation for delivering projects the right way - not simply getting them finished.
What Success Looks Like

A successful Senior Superintendent:

  • Can be trusted with the company’s most important and challenging projects.
  • Anticipates problems before they become schedule, cost, safety, or quality issues.
  • Understands both the big picture and the field details that can derail a project.
  • Leads multiple field leaders and creates a strong culture of accountability.
  • Keeps complex work properly sequenced and moving forward.
  • Protects the schedule without compromising safety or quality.
  • Builds confidence with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Consistently delivers difficult projects successfully.
  • Develops stronger field teams and contributes to improved company processes and standards.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive commercial construction experience, with significant Superintendent leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading large, complex commercial or institutional construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead the complete field operation of major projects.
  • Experience with complex phasing, occupied facilities, renovations, major logistics challenges, or technically demanding construction strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring multiple Superintendents and field teams.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, critical path management, sequencing, logistics, and subcontractor management.
  • Expert ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and coordination requirements.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA requirements, jobsite safety, and construction risk management.
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management technology preferred.
