Job summary

Manhattan Construction Company seeks a Superintendent 2 to lead field operations, ensuring safe, timely, and profitable project completion. You will supervise on-site crews, manage schedules, review contractor pay applications, and coordinate with the Project Manager to maintain quality and safety on site.

The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and clear client communication to support complex construction projects and our safety-centric program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent; education may be substituted with related experience on a one-to-one basis.
  • 8 years of industry experience.
  • Leadership on at least 3–4 projects or several complex smaller projects.

Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force.
  • Review and approve Trade Contractor Pay Applications and material invoices.
  • Develop and maintain site logistics plan with Project Manager.
  • Manage the CPM schedule and look ahead schedules.
  • Implement safety policies and promote Injury-Free Environment.
  • Attend and lead project meetings with Project Manager and stakeholders.

POSITIONSUMMARY:

The Superintendent 2 is responsible for fieldoperations on the project(s) assigned in order to achieve safe, timely andprofitable completion of each project. This position must demonstrate strongleadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strongcommunication and client service skills.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All responsibilities expected of theSuperintendent1
  • Implementation of Operation Zero and all Manhattan safety policies
  • Participates and executes roles to help create anInjury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring of others
  • Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field laborforce
  • Review and approve Trade Contractor Pay Applicationsand material invoices with Project Manager
  • Develop and maintain site logistics plan, incoordination with Project Manager
  • Manage quality program
  • Coordinate site testing and inspection reports
  • Monitor costs, including labor time and material
  • Manage self-perform features of work
  • Manage the CPM schedule and look ahead schedules
  • Development/coordinate/execute Safety, Hazcom, SWPPP,QA/QC plan, etc
  • Attend and lead portions of, if not all of projectmeetings, including but not limited to preconstruction, preinstallation, subcontractor,owner and safety in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Create daily reports and report quantities
  • Assist with Preconstruction/Estimating phase ofproject
  • Mobilizes the site and set up utilities
  • Assures necessary permits are secured and inspectionsoccur
  • Reviews and verifies RFIs
  • Reviews and approves submittals for processing
  • Responsible for conductingthemselves in accordance with our Guiding Principles and exhibitingattributes matching the Way We Work.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Able to effectively lead teams through projects of somecomplexity

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree- Construction Management, Engineering orequivalent. May substitute required education degree with relatedexperience on a one-to-one basis
  • 8 years of industry experience
  • Has been a part of leadership on at least 3-4 projects or runseveral complex smaller projects to be determined by regionaloperations

WORKINGCONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS:

  • You must be adaptable to all types of weather conditions and traverse and inspect all areas of a construction job site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day.
  • Ability to repeat the same movements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls.
  • Ability to compose, send, and reply to emails and written correspondence.
  • Must be able to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Travel may be required occasionally, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver’s License).
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards.
