Job summary

Foundation Personnel Inc. seeks an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on major mass excavation and earthmoving projects from mobilization through completion. The role requires strong field leadership, coordination with project teams, and a focus on safety and schedule adherence.

You will supervise on-site activities, direct crews and subcontractors, and optimize production while maintaining quality and OSHA compliance across Texas-based job sites.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of field supervision experience in mass excavation, earthmoving, civil construction, or site development.
  • Proven experience running large-scale commercial or industrial earthwork projects.
  • Strong knowledge of grading, excavation, hauling operations, and production-based field execution.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing crews, operators, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, grades, and specifications.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced field environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with construction field software preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, and survey teams to align field operations with project plans.
  • Conduct daily site supervision, monitoring production, safety, and progress.
  • Oversee grading, excavation, hauling, and site preparation activities.
  • Plan daily and short-term work sequencing to maximize production and minimize downtime.
  • Identify field issues and implement practical solutions to maintain schedule and productivity.
  • Ensure proper utilization of equipment, materials, and labor resources.
  • Track daily production quantities and report progress accurately.
  • Support scheduling efforts by ensuring field operations align with project timelines.
  • Work closely with project management to adjust field plans based on site conditions and constraints.
  • Serve as the primary field contact for subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
  • Communicate daily field updates, constraints, and production status to project leadership.
  • Collaborate with estimating, survey, and engineering teams to ensure constructability and execution alignment.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all job sites.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions or practices immediately.
  • Ensure work is completed to the required specifications and quality standards.
  • Coordinate equipment allocation, movement, and utilization across the job site.
  • Work with operations teams to ensure proper maintenance scheduling and equipment availability.
  • Support mobilization and demobilization planning for job sites.

We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on major mass excavation and earthmoving projects from mobilization through completion.

This position will be based at a job site in Texas.

Position Overview:

The Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day field execution of mass excavation and site development projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and productive operations. This role requires strong leadership in the field, coordination of crews and equipment, and close collaboration with project management, engineers, and subcontractors to deliver work on time and within production targets.

Key Responsibilities:
Field Leadership
