Job summary

EarthTones Design Inc in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead landscape projects from planning through close-out. You will work closely with the Project Manager to direct daily field operations, assign tasks, and ensure safety and quality on site.

You will supervise Foremen, Laborers, and Subcontractors, develop short- and long-term schedules, and coordinate deliveries to maintain workflow. Travel to job sites is required as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in landscape construction.
• Experience leading employees on job sites.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
• Valid Driver’s License; irrigation license preferred.
• Travel to job sites as needed.

Reports To: Project Manager

Position Overview

The Construction Superintendent plays a critical role in the success of all landscape projects. Superintendents work closely with the Project Manager to plan, implement, and close out the projects assigned to them.

In this role, Superintendents lead teams of Foremen, Laborers, and Subcontractors throughout the life of the project while instilling a sense of quality, safety, and the core values of the company.

The Superintendent serves as the primary field authority for day-to-day construction activities and is responsible for directing field operations while working under the direction and guidance of the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Works closely with the Project Manager to direct daily field operations, assigns tasks, and manages crew productivity.
• Provides on-site leadership to ensure that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
• Acts as the primary field authority on all construction activities.
• Collaborates with the Project Manager to develop and maintain short- and long-term schedules.
• Coordinates manpower, equipment, and material deliveries to maintain steady workflow and minimize downtime.
• Communicates daily with other trades and subcontractors to resolve conflicts and sequencing issues.
• Enforces all company and OSHA safety policies on-site. Leads daily jobsite safety meetings, ensures use of PPE, and maintains a clean and organized site.
• Reports and documents all incidents, near misses, and corrective actions promptly.
• Maintains open communication with the Project Manager regarding project progress, delays, manpower needs, and potential issues.
• Submits daily reports, verifies field time entries, tracks quantities installed, and assists in documenting changes for potential change orders.
