Job summary

Herman Weissker, Inc. seeks an experienced Gas Utility Superintendent to lead gas utility construction projects under utility company contracts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10–15 years of progressively responsible experience in utility construction.
• Minimum 5 years of experience supervising gas utility construction projects.
• Extensive experience working under gas utility company contracts.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, manpower, and subcontractors.
• Experience with contract unit tracking, packaging, and production reporting.
• Strong understanding of contract requirements, change orders, and billing processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to field foremen, supervisors, and project engineers on all assigned gas utility construction projects.
• Oversee daily field operations including installation, replacement, relocation, abandonment, and maintenance of gas distribution facilities.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, subcontractors, and materials to achieve project schedules and production goals.
• Ensure all projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, productivity, quality, and safety performance.
• Review project schedules and develop recovery plans when necessary.
• Serve as the senior technical advisor for gas utility construction activities.

Job description

Herman Weissker, Inc. is seeking an experienced Gas Utility Superintendent to provide leadership, direction, and oversight for gas utility construction projects performed under utility company contracts. This position is responsible for managing field operations, supervising foremen and project engineers, ensuring safety and quality compliance, maintaining production schedules, and overseeing contract unit packaging and billing documentation.

The Gas Utility Superintendent will work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Utility Company Representatives, Accounting, and Field Personnel to ensure successful project execution, contract compliance, and profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide leadership and direction to field foremen, supervisors, and project engineers on all assigned gas utility construction projects.
• Oversee daily field operations including installation, replacement, relocation, abandonment, and maintenance of gas distribution facilities.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, subcontractors, and materials to achieve project schedules and production goals.
• Ensure all projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, productivity, quality, and safety performance.

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

LICENSE:

• Valid California Class C Driver's License or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to meet company driving requirements.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
• Competent Person Certification.
• Gas Utility Industry Certifications.
• First Aid/CPR Certification.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 10-15 years of progressively responsible experience in utility construction.

• Proven experience managing gas distribution, transmission, regulator station, or service installation projects.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, manpower, and subcontractors.

• Strong understanding of utility contract requirements, change order management, and billing processes.
