Job summary

NPAworldwide is seeking a Refinery Superintendent for a salt plant in Newark, CA. You will provide strategic operational oversight for production and processing, with a focus on safety, food quality, and financial performance.

Responsibilities include leading 2–3 supervisors in a hands-on role, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency. Minimum four years in food manufacturing required; Lean Six Sigma preferred and bilingual a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent food refinery background.
• Minimum of four years of related work experience in a food manufacturing setting.
• Lean Six Sigma certification preferred; supervisory experience is a plus.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus and may be beneficial for site operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety, food safety and environmental compliance program standards and goals.
• Lead production and quality management to meet customer, product and quality standards; will lead 2–3 supervisors; hands-on; union environment; day shift.
• Establish operational priorities for the plant and deploy them across operations.
• Manage budgets (capital and operating) and drive efficiency improvements; oversee maintenance and reliability practices.
• Develop and coach a team, manage talent, performance, and disciplinary actions.

Job Purpose and Impact

This is a salt refinery from one of the biggest foods companies in the world. The Refinery Superintendent will provide strategic operational oversight for assigned production and operating process for this foods (salt) plant. In this role, you will oversee safety, food quality, operational effectiveness and financial performance.

Key Accountabilities

• Ensures employee safety, food safety and environmental compliance program standards and goals are implemented.
• Accountable for all internal and external operating and regulatory procedures.
• Including strategic and tactical execution in alignment with corporate EH&S, food safety, quality and regulatory functions as well as government regulations.
• Lead production and quality management deliverables to ensure customer, product and quality standard requirements are met within specifications. Will lead 2-3 supervisors. Hands on position. Union. Union experience a plus. Day shift.
• Establish and deploy operational priorities for this plant.
• Oversee the overall operational management of a single plant and implement operational efficiency improvements which may include standardization of plant information manufacturing systems, quality control, safety, production reliability excellence and maintenance and operator's best practices.
• Leads, directs and controls capital and operating budgets for a single plant to achieve medium term outlook financial performance objectives set by the business.
• Ensure and hold direct reports accountable for meeting production deliverables and controlling operating expenses and established targets.
• Lead and develop a team, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree in a related field or would consider a non degree if they have food refinery (ideally salt) background.
• Minimum of four years of related work experience in a food manufacturing setting

• Bilingual is a plus
