Job summary

JMJ PHILLIP is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee field operations, coordinate crews and subcontractors, monitor safety and quality, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and in accordance with plans in the greater Los Angeles area.

You will lead foremen and field personnel, manage resources, track progress, resolve field issues, and maintain thorough documentation while communicating updates to project leadership.

Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and organized Superintendent to oversee field operations, coordinate crews and subcontractors, maintain safety and quality standards, and ensure projects are completed efficiently and according to established schedules and specifications. This role requires strong leadership, communication, project coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Position Responsibilities

Field Operations

• Oversee daily field activities and ensure work progresses according to project plans and schedules.
• Coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and other resources.
• Monitor productivity and address operational issues that may affect project progress.

Team & Subcontractor Coordination

• Provide direction and support to foremen, field personnel, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate work assignments and ensure teams understand project requirements.
• Maintain effective communication among field teams, project managers, and other stakeholders.

Safety & Quality

• Enforce workplace safety policies and applicable regulations.
• Monitor jobsites for hazards and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
• Ensure work meets established quality standards, plans, specifications, and project requirements.

Project Management Support

• Track project progress and communicate updates, delays, and resource requirements.
• Help resolve field issues and coordinate solutions to maintain project schedules.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to daily activities, manpower, materials, and project progress.

Prerequisites

• Previous experience as a Superintendent, General Foreman, Foreman, or similar field leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of field operations and project execution.
• Experience coordinating crews, subcontractors, and multiple work activities.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and project documents.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, hands‑on environment.

Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)

• OSHA certification.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Trade‑specific licenses or certifications.
• Construction management or supervisory certifications.
• Project management or safety‑related certifications.
