Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company is seeking a Superintendent to manage projects across the DC/MD/VA area. The role requires 5+ years of experience with heavy civil contracts and proven leadership in field operations. You will oversee scheduling, budgeting, safety, and collaboration with project teams and clients.

The position offers a competitive salary range and full benefits. A High School diploma or equivalent is required, and the candidate must be authorized to work in the US.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with a large scale heavy civil contractor or equivalent industry experience.
• Deep knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment and manpower.
• Ability to lead field operations with effective decision making and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Understanding of construction equipment, safe operating practices and maintenance.
• Understanding of local, state and federal construction regulations.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, supervise and monitor construction to meet or exceed the project schedule and budget.
• Encourages and/or participates in staff training and development.
• Collaborate with clients, Project Managers, other construction management to determine budget and timeline.
• Develop a project schedule, sequence of work, and monitor daily productivity.
• Maintain a daily log for the job site's operations, reporting to management as necessary.
• Supervise field workforce to assure safety, production and budget requirements are met.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
