The Professional Division of Spherion Mid-Ohio, partnering with a Colorado commercial construction company, seeks an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on assigned projects in Salida/Gunnison area. Direct hire from day one, with strong salary potential and benefits.

Ideal candidates have commercial superintendent experience, read drawings fluently, and can manage subcontractors, schedules, safety, and quality across projects, including higher-education, government, or healthcare

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience as a commercial construction Superintendent required.
• Experience leading field operations, subcontractors, schedules, safety, and quality on commercial projects.
• Experience in higher education, government/public sector, or healthcare construction preferred.
• Able to read and interpret construction drawings/blueprints.
• Strong leadership and communication with subcontractors, teams, owners, stakeholders.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word/Excel and PM software.
• 30-Hour OSHA Certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Willingness to travel to jobsites, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of daily field operations for assigned commercial construction projects.
• Coordinate subcontractors, field crews, clients, and jobsite activities to maintain schedules.
• Maintain strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and project expectations.
• Work with project leadership on schedules, phasing, logistics, and field needs.
• Monitor progress, field costs, materials, and issues that may impact the project.
• Develop short-term/look-ahead schedules and communicate priorities with teams.
• Oversee quality control, inspections, punch lists, and code requirements.
• Lead field/foreman meetings and keep stakeholders informed.
• Ensure daily reports and project records are accurate and current.
• Identify field challenges early and devise practical solutions.
• Provide leadership to Assistant Superintendents and Field Engineers.
• Support preconstruction and project planning as needed.

The Professional Division of Spherion Mid-Ohio is partnering with an established and growing commercial construction company in Colorado to hire an experienced Superintendent.

Pay range is $95,000–$105,000 + Bonus, with compensation up to $125,000 for highly experienced, senior-level Superintendents.

Ideally, candidates will be located in or near Salida or Gunnison, CO (Chaffee, Gunnison or surrounding counties).

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of daily field operations for assigned commercial construction projects.
• Coordinate subcontractors, field crews, Client, and jobsite activities to keep projects moving according to schedule.
• Maintain a strong focus on jobsite safety, quality, productivity, and project expectations.
• Work closely with project leadership on schedules, project phasing, logistics, and upcoming field needs.
• Monitor job progress, field costs, materials, and potential issues that could impact the project.
• Develop short-term/look-ahead schedules and communicate priorities with subcontractors and field teams.
• Oversee quality control, inspections, punch-list completion, and code requirements throughout the project.
• Lead field and foreman meetings and maintain consistent communication with project stakeholders.
• Ensure daily reports, project records, as-built drawings, and other required field documentation remain accurate and current.
• Identify field challenges early and work with the project team to develop practical solutions.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to Assistant Superintendents and Field Engineers.
• Support preconstruction and project planning efforts as needed.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Previous commercial construction Superintendent experience required.
• Proven experience leading field operations, subcontractors, schedules, safety, and quality on commercial construction projects.
• Experience within higher education, government/public sector, and/or healthcare construction strongly preferred.
• Advanced ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
• Strong leadership and ability to effectively communicate with subcontractors, project teams, owners, and other stakeholders.
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and construction/project management software.
• 30-Hour OSHA Certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel to jobsites as needed, including occasional overnight stays.
• Ability to work in varying outdoor and jobsite conditions.

Preferred or Nice to Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with institutional, healthcare, higher education, or government/public construction projects.
• VISTA accounting/project management software experience.
• Experience developing and mentoring junior field leadership.
