About the Opportunity
Founded in the 1930s, this general contractor has grown from a small family business into one of the largest general contractors in the country. It has offices nationwide, and its teams are organized by market sector, delivering everything from complex ground-up builds to renovations and interiors across healthcare, life sciences, government, technology, and mission critical. The company is known for a strong safety and quality culture, a people-first work environment, and lasting client relationships.
This is a traveling Superintendent role within the healthcare group. You’ll lead field operations on large, ground-up healthcare projects at sites across the country, including hospitals, patient towers, medical office buildings, and other complex healthcare facilities. It’s a great fit for someone who loves running big, technically demanding jobs from start to finish and wants a steady pipeline of high-profile work with a national builder.
What You’ll Do
- Lead all field operations from mobilization through closeout, keeping the project safe, on schedule, within budget, and built to a high standard of quality.
- Build and maintain the project schedule, including three-week look-aheads, and coordinate the sequencing of all trades on site.
- Manage the unique demands of healthcare construction, including ICRA and infection control measures, phasing around active hospital operations, and life safety requirements.
- Coordinate complex MEP systems, medical gas, and specialty healthcare equipment installations with trade partners and the design team.
- Champion a strong safety culture through daily oversight, site inspections, and toolbox talks, making sure every subcontractor meets company and OSHA standards.
- Supervise and mentor assistant superintendents, field engineers, and foremen.
- Manage subcontractors, run coordination meetings, and hold trades accountable for manpower, schedule, and quality.
- Work closely with the Project Manager on constructability reviews, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and cost control.
- Serve as a key field contact for the owner, facilities team, architect, and engineers.
- Lead inspections with AHJs and state health departments, plus commissioning, punch lists, and turnover.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, and project documentation.
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of field experience with a general contractor, including time as a Superintendent running ground-up commercial projects.
- Healthcare construction experience strongly preferred, ideally on hospitals, patient towers, or other large ground-up healthcare facilities.
- Working knowledge of ICRA, infection control, and construction in or adjacent to occupied healthcare environments.
- A proven track record of delivering large, complex projects safely and on schedule.
- Strong knowledge of means and methods, building codes, and MEP coordination.
- Confident leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple trades and build trust with clients.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, or similar.
- OSHA 30 required; ICRA certification a plus.
- Willingness to travel and relocate to project sites as needed.
- A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent field experience is highly valued.
