Job summary

William A. Hazel, Inc. is seeking a Superintendent to manage on-site site development construction projects from mobilization through closeout. You will ensure safety, on‑time delivery, and adherence to contract documents, working closely with the Project Manager.

Requirements include 7+ years in site development or civil construction, ability to read civil plans, and a strong safety leadership mindset. An OSHA 30 certification is preferred; a CM/CE degree is a plus.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of site development or civil construction experience.
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specs, and geotechnical reports.
• Osha 30 certification preferred.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
• High school diploma; bachelor’s degree in CM/CE a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and supervise all on-site construction activities related to site development.
• Enforce OSHA safety programs and ensure full compliance with safety policy.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field labor.
• Develop and maintain the project’s short-interval schedule (2–3 week look-ahead).
• Conduct quality control inspections and ensure conformance with drawings, specs, and permits.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager on procurement, RFIs, and change order impacts to the field.
• Manage site logistics, laydown areas, and traffic/erosion control plans.
• Lead daily toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings.
• Maintain daily reports, manpower logs, and progress documentation.
• Interface with owners, inspectors, and jurisdiction officials on-site.
• Mentor Assistant Superintendents and field staff.

William A. Hazel, Inc., a total site development contractor for over 60 years, is looking for a Superintendent. The Superintendenthas primary responsibility for on-site management of sitedevelopment constructionprojects, overseeing all field operations from mobilization through project closeout. This role ensures projects are built safely, on time, within budget, andin accordance withcontract documents.This position works closely with the Project Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, schedule, and supervise all on-site construction activities related to site development (mass grading, utilities, roadways, stormwater, paving, landscaping)
• Enforcejobsitesafety programs and ensure full compliance with OSHA and company safetypolicy
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field labor
• Develop andmaintainthe project’s short-interval schedule (2–3 week look-ahead)
• Conduct quality control inspections and ensure conformance with drawings, specs, and permits

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports
• OSHA 30 certificationpreferred
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
• High school diploma or equivalent required;Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related fielda plus

SALARY

$120,000 to $150,000
