Job description

Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks according to the center's approved menus and nutritional requirements.Accommodate documented food allergies, intolerances, and special dietary needs as directed by center policies and parent/medical documentation.Follow established recipes, portion sizes, and meal schedules.Follow all federal, state, and local regulations regarding child nutrition, food preparation, sanitation, and food safety.Maintain proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and inventory practices.Monitor food temperatures and ensure food is prepared, stored, and served safely.Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including food preparation surfaces, appliances, dishes, utensils, and storage areas.Wash dishes and kitchen equipment as needed.Monitor food and kitchen supply inventory and notify the appropriate supervisor when supplies need to be ordered.Receive and properly store food and supply deliveries.Minimize food waste while maintaining appropriate food quality and quantity.Use kitchen equipment safely and report any equipment problems or safety concerns promptly.Work cooperatively with teachers and center staff to ensure meals and snacks are served on schedule.Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families.Participate in required staff meetings, training, and professional development.Perform other duties as assigned by the Center Director or designated supervisor.Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or a commercial kitchen preferred.Experience preparing food for children is a plus.Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.Ability to follow recipes, menus, and written instructions.Ability to safely operate standard kitchen equipment.Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.Dependable, responsible, and attentive to detail.Must meet all applicable state licensing requirements for child care food service personnel.
