Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking a Theatre Director for the MPRD summer theatre program. This seasonal, non-exempt role will manage a large group of children in an indoor facility and ensure a positive, educational experience.

Responsibilities include blocking a musical, teaching theatre techniques, creating lesson plans, and maintaining effective communication with students and parents. The position requires 18+ years of age and background check clearance.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• One year of college education with courses in theatre or education preferred.
• Experience with school-age children and theatre is desirable.
• Ability to collaborate with staff and parents in a community program.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Block an entire children’s musical.
• Able to work with and teach young children theatre techniques.
• Create lesson plans/curriculum.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and coworkers.
• Establish cooperative professional relationships with others.
• Address concerns and provide excellent customer service reflecting Parks & Recreation’s mission.
• Assist, develop, and facilitate a safe, fun theatre program.
