Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking a Seasonal Theatre Director for the MPRD summer musical theatre program. Must be 18 years or older, able to manage large, diverse groups of children, and available Tuesday evenings during the school year.

Starting wage: $20.00/hour; Closing Date: Open until filled, may close at any time. Job duties include blocking an entire children’s musical, teaching theatre techniques to young students, creating lesson plans and curriculum, and communicating effectively with

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• One year of college education with courses taken in Theatre or Education.
• Experience with musical theatre and past directing.
• Work/volunteer experience with school-age children.
• Pass a background check.
• Ability to create lesson plans/curriculum.
• Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal, with students, parents, and coworkers.
• Must be able to manage large, diverse groups of children.
• Must be available Tuesday evenings during the school year.

Responsibilities

• Block an entire children’s musical.
• Able to work with and teach young children theatre techniques.
• Ability to create lesson plans/curriculum.
• Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbally, with students, parents, and coworkers.
• Able to establish and maintain cooperative professional working relationships with others, individually and in a team environment.
• Actively listen to customers and address any concerns or needs.
• Provide excellent customer service and possess a service philosophy which reflects the mission of Parks & Recreation.
• Must assist, develop, and facilitate a safe, successful, and ultimately fun theatre program.
