Job summary

Workstream in Knoxville is seeking a Summer Swim Team Coach to lead the club’s swim program, schedule meets and coordinate practices with the Assistant Coaches. You will schedule and attend practice sessions, build positive relationships with swimmers and parents, and manage all swim team communications and meet logistics.

This role requires American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification, endurance for hot, humid environments, and the ability to project your voice to instruction during busy

Qualifications

• Experience as a competitive swimmer.
• Experience as Swim Team Assistant or Head Coach.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and attends practice sessions for the swim team.
• Develops relationships with swimmers and parents.
• Responsible for all Swim Team Communications.
• Organizes all aspects of swim meet including scheduling individual race participants, recording and posting start times, and distributing race ribbons.
• Attends and participates in the club’s committee meetings.
• Maintains presence during swim team events.
• Maintains swim team and event equipment.
• Organizes swim meet volunteers.
• Orders Swim Team supplies
• Attends meetings with GKAISA as required
• Performs other tasks as required

Education and/or Experience

• Experience as a competitive swimmer.
• Experience as a Swim Team Assistant or Head Coach.

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations

• Ability to plan, organize, schedule and manage all phases of the club’s swim team program.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform all required duties in emergency situations.

Licenses and Special Requirements

• American Red Cross Basic First Aid required, training on AED units and possession of a current Red Cross CPR card.

• Able to work in a busy, noisy environment.
• Able to tolerate the smell of chlorine.
• Ability to project voice and articulate instructions to swimmers.
• Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment, which is typical of this position.
