Job summary

Atwell is offering a Summer 2027 Internship in Survey & Mapping. The role supports the Land Survey team with field data collection and processing, under a mentor who trains on reports, layouts, and survey plans for land development and solar projects.

You will also assist with CAD drafting, data downloads, deed research, and filing, while learning leveling, traversing, mapping, and staking on diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Currently a student in a Survey program at a University or Technical School.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Entry level experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
• Basic understanding of plan interpretation.
• Proven ability to work well both within a team and independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the Land Survey team in collecting and processing field data.
• Pair with a mentor who will train you on technical reports, layouts, and survey plans.
• Assist with office tasks including CAD drafting, data download, deed and map research, and filing.
• Learn survey activities such as leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, profile and cross section surveys, plus physical tasks like line clearing and staking.
• Gain experience with project drawings including ALTA, Final Plats, Maps of Dedication, construction layout and construction staking.
