Job summary

The State of Missouri's MoDOT is offering a Survey intern position in the St. Louis District Office. The intern will assist the field survey party by taking survey measurements and operating field equipment under direct supervision.

Responsibilities include operating equipment, establishing centerline control, marking locations, setting up safety devices, recording data, and maintaining gear. Applicants must be enrolled in a relevant degree program with required credits and GPA.

Qualifications

• Enrolled full-time in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program.
• Completed 30 credit hours toward current degree program.
• GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

• Operates surveying equipment in accordance with department methods and processes.
• Participates in measuring operations to establish horizontal and vertical centerline control.
• Performs measurements and marking of locations for soundings, soil, and geological surveys, intermediate right-of-way locations, and easement corners.
• Sets out safety devices, work zone signs, traffic cones, and warning flags; places targets for photogrammetry.
• Records survey data such as centerline profile, cross sections, vertical control and culvert sections in electronic field book.
• Maintains Survey equipment, safety devices, supplies and vehicles; computes and records mileage for survey vehicles.
• Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

• Enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
• 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
• Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.
