Job summary

You will work with survey professionals, participate in field activities, learn GPS and total station techniques, and manage AutoCAD drawings for field points and cutsheets. Safety and outdoor work in varied conditions are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an engineering, surveying technology, geomatics, or related program of study (preferred).
• Strong desire to learn and ability to work in a team environment.
• Good oral and written communication skills, and attention to detail required.
• Dependable and responsible.
• Positive attitude with ability to understand and implement directions.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying field conditions (swamp areas, thick foliage, construction zones).
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (high heat, humidity, rainstorms).
• Must pass drug screen, background check and have satisfactory driving record per MVR policy.

Responsibilities

• Learn boundary and topographic land surveying aspects.
• Collaborate with field and office personnel during project life-cycle.
• Participate in field activities: GPS, total station, differential leveling, digital leveling.
• Safety procedures, traffic control devices, PPE training.
• Read deeds, easements, subdivision plats; compile an abstract map and use it for field boundary surveys.
• Learn to resolve boundaries using construction principles, case law and best practices.
• Read construction plans to generate points directing construction crews.
• Utilize and manage AutoCAD drawings to create field points and cutsheets for roadway work.
• Identify and differentiate field markers and signs across utilities.
