Description
Position Objective:
The KC Head Cook position is responsible for directing kitchen operations at the assigned camp, including preparing, serving, and storing food as directed by the Food Service Administrator in a safe and efficient manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications
General Qualifications:
The Kidder Creek (“KC”) Cook is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff demonstrate their faith through their work, stewardship, relationships, and behavior, embodying their commitment as followers of Jesus Christ while supporting Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision, and beliefs. They are responsible for fostering and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.
Key Job Accountabilities:
- Complete menus as provided and instructed by the Food Service Administrator.
- Pull, prepare, serve, and store food following food handling procedures to ensure safe, nutritious meals and prevent spoilage and foodborne illness.
- Maintain accurate records of refrigerator and freezer temperatures to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Conduct inventory as needed by the Food Service Administrator.
- Clean ovens, grills, and ventilation hoods as required to maintain sanitary standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assistants cooks
- Summer staff, students, and volunteers assigned to meal preparation
Qualifications
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
- Some college or more, depending on skills.
- Food Handler’s card or ServSafe certification.
Work Experience:
- Experience in the food service industry preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to prepare meals according to industry standards.
- Ability to instruct and train others.
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain industrial kitchen equipment.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 35-50 lbs.
- Capability to lift and carry cases of canned goods, sacks of dry products, etc.
- Ability to see, hear, and speak.
Additional Requirements/Skills:
- Flexible days off to meet kitchen demands; extended hours may be required.
- Flexibility in work location, including working in other kitchens, wilderness, or ministry areas when needed.

- Satisfactory completion of a background check and proof of work eligibility in the U.S.
