Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking a Summer 2027 Software Engineering Intern in Frederick, MD to work closely with engineers on a variety of assignments. The role emphasizes learning fundamentals, conducting basic testing, and gathering data under supervision to support design and development.

Ideal candidates are engineering students with experience in C/C++, Python on Linux, and multi-threading concepts, and who can learn quickly while collaborating across teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Engineering student; progress toward degree.
• Ability to build strong network.
• Diligent, hardworking and quick to learn.
• Solid understanding of C/C++ and Python on Linux; some Windows experience.
• Knowledge of multi-threading and multi-processing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers on engineering assignments.
• Carry out basic work to learn company fundamentals.
• Perform limited scope testing under supervision.
• Complete tasks on time.
• Gather and assemble data for engineers.
• May assist research in a field.
• Conduct design analysis and calculations under supervision.
• Assist with design details.
• Build interpersonal networks within the team.
• Support the mission, values and culture of Leonardo DRS.
• Other duties as assigned.
