Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking an Automated Test Engineering Intern to develop, integrate, and automate test solutions for advanced electronic and RF systems in Frederick, MD. You will collaborate with engineers to create automated tests, interface with lab instrumentation, analyze data, and troubleshoot real-world problems.

The internship emphasizes hands-on testing, scripting in Python/LabVIEW, and experience with test equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Engineering student; progress towards engineering degree.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to build a network.
• Diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Computer Engineering, CS, or related field.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or similar language.
• Basic understanding of circuits, digital/embedded/RF systems, or test and measurement.
• Ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in conducting a variety of engineering assignments.
• Carry out basic work instructions to learn company practices.
• Conduct limited scope testing under supervision.
• Complete assigned tasks on time and gather data for engineers.
• May aid in research in a specific field.
• Perform design analysis or calculations under supervision.
• Assist with development of test procedures and fixtures.
• Collaborate with Test, RF, Digital/FPGA, Embedded Software, Systems, and Manufacturing engineers.
