Job summary

Waltham Public Schools is seeking a Summer School Nurse to provide professional nursing services supporting student health, safety, and learning outcomes. The nurse will promote disease prevention, respond to medical needs, and ensure compliance with MA health and education regulations.

Responsibilities include assessing and treating illnesses, responding to emergencies with CPR/AED, maintaining health records, and coordinating with families, staff, and administrators.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Massachusetts with BSN.
• BLS Certification.
• Knowledge of pediatric and community health.
• Familiarity with public health regulations.
• Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat student illness and injury.
• Respond to medical emergencies: first aid, CPR, AED, medications.
• Monitor communicable diseases and manage exclusions/readmissions.
• Maintain accurate health records and required reports.
• Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel per state law.
• Communicate with families, staff, and administrators.
• Report suspected abuse/neglect per state regulations.
