Job summary

Clean Harbors Bartow, FL Facility is seeking a Receiving Chemist Intern for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience supporting projects across our environmental, energy, and industrial services operations. This in-person internship will be at the Bartow facility and not eligible for remote work.

Start dates are May 17th or May 24th, 2027 and the program runs through August. Interns work with experienced professionals, assisting with sample analyses, waste handling, and safety/compliance tasks,

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a degree in chemistry or other relevant field at an accredited college or university.
Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or other relevant technical tools.

Responsibilities

Ensures safety is the top priority by following safe work practices and policies.
Receives containers, verifies counts/sizes, and codes waste for disposal processing.
Samples incoming drums and performs basic analyses per procedures.
Sorts batteries and consolidates alkaline batteries for disposal.
Ensures drums are coded for routing and billing per protocol.
Keeps drums assigned to proper disposal processes and storage areas.
Completes paperwork and adheres to QA/QC guidelines; maintains OSHA safety compliance.
