Job summary

Clean Harbors Wilmington, CA Facility is seeking a Receiving Chemist Intern to gain hands-on experience while supporting projects across our environmental, energy, and industrial services operations. This internship runs Summer 2027 with start dates May 17 or May 24, and ends in August.

You will work with experienced professionals at our Wilmington site, learning proper waste handling, QA/QC procedures, and safety practices while developing practical skills for your early career in the

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in chemistry or related field at an accredited college or university.
• Forklift experience preferred but not required.
• Strong interest in environmental services industry.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or other relevant technical tools.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
• Receives all containers, verifies counts and sizes of received loads and properly codes all waste for disposal processing.
• Samples all incoming drums and performs basic analysis of samples following prescribed procedures.
• Sorts through batteries and consolidates alkaline batteries for disposal.
• Confirms all drums are coded for routing and billing according to protocol.
• Ensures drums are assigned the proper disposal process and/or outbound profile.
