The Summer Program Manager drives the energy and execution of the camp experience. This leadership role involves planning and facilitating daily activities, games, and evening events to ensure the schedule runs smoothly. You will serve as the 'Master of Ceremonies' for large group gatherings, support the counseling staff, and ensure that every activity—from the low ropes to the campfire—creates an environment where campers can connect with Christ and each other. The Summer Program Manager at Inspiration Hills Camp is responsible for promoting the mission of the camp through the planning and delivery of programmed activities and events. The Program Manager will design and deliver activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities and assist in the management of the overall summer camp operation at the direction of the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- Delivering a safe and fun program to campers by
- Ensuring Bible studies and other programmed activities are prepared and implemented that meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers.
- Delivering programmed activities that challenge growth in campers.
- Evaluating the success of the program and the development of the campers’ abilities and skills in various program activities.
- Coordinating all summer camp activities with seasonal staff, volunteers and full time staff.
- Ensuring that seasonal staff, volunteers and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures during camp programs through
- Planning and implementing seasonal staff training.
- Planning and implementing volunteer training.
- Providing guidelines for programs utilizing camp equipment.
- Ensuring campers, seasonal staff and volunteers follow safety procedures in all program areas.
- Assisting in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas by
- Overseeing daily checks of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
- Ensuring that program areas are kept free of hazards and debris.
- Notifying Facility Manager of items in need of repair or maintenance.
- Supervising and evaluating Seasonal Staff to develop and implement all facets of camp program activities through
- Recruiting, training, mentoring, and evaluating seasonal staff.
- Regularly monitor work of Seasonal Staff.
- Providing feedback and guidance to Seasonal Staff.
- Providing recommendations and concerns to the Executive Director regarding seasonal staffs’ performances.
Other Responsibilities
- Attend all staff meetings during the summer.
- Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, providing support and guidance to those assigned as leaders.
- Provide ongoing program ideas to counseling and activity area staff.
- Maintain equipment used for all programs including archery, waterfront, outdoor cooking, low ropes, group initiatives and recreation.
- Maintain Counselor backpacks.
- Oversee the nurses’ station and camper med forms.
- Keep desk and personal office space clean and organized.
- Assisting in other areas of camp as needed including facilities, housekeeping, office, and kitchen.

Qualifications
- Experience in administrative or leadership roles at a residential Christian camp.
- Experience in the development and delivery of programs and activities for children and youth.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly developed attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Current certification in first aid and CPR, or willingness to become certified.
- Certification or willingness to become certified as a lifeguard preferred, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with others including peers.
- Desire and ability to work with children outdoors.
Physical Aspects Of The Position
- Ability to communicate and work with all groups (children and adults) and provide necessary instruction to campers and seasonal staff.
- Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
- Ability to observe seasonal staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate management techniques.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying weather conditions.
