Job description

This is a summer, entry-level position on night shift. The ideal candidate will work in various areas of the plant. Hours typically range from 5:15 pm to 6:00 am, usually around 2:30 am - 3:30 am, with weekend work required.

Summary

Performs a variety of duties across the plant, primarily in Inside Production, rotating among duties as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Machine pack: Operates conveyor and presses product into jars, inspecting for foreign objects, broken pickles, and defective glass.
• Hand pack: Packs products into jars or containers, weighs jars if necessary, inspects for defects, and meets production rates.
• Pouch line: Inspects pouches for leaks, discards defective pouches, and loads good pouches onto the pasteurizer.
• Other Duties: Inspects products on conveyor feeding packing machines.
• Uncasing: Places glass containers on unscramble table, moves pallets as needed.
• Glass inspecting: Visually inspects glass jars, removes defective jars.
• Check weighing: Checks jars for weight and appearance, separates acceptable and unacceptable jars.
• Other responsibilities: Follows safety rules, participates in training, meetings, and projects.
• Rework and Bulk containers (occasional duties): Handles reworking of products and unboxing/packing of large containers, usually on day shift.

Work Environment

Works indoors with seasonal temperature variations, some wetness, fumes, machinery noise, and contact with grease. PPE like head covers, beard covers, gloves, and aprons are required.

Requirements

Uses tools like knives, pliers, mallets, scales, and pans.

Physical Demands

• Reaching, standing, pushing, lifting, fingering, grasping, repetitive motions, and light exertion (up to 10 pounds occasionally).
