Job summary

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering (KIWE) seeks a Process Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 in Lenexa, KS. You will join a growing team providing industrial and water infrastructure design support and assist with small projects or larger multi-discipline efforts, focusing on conceptual and detailed design, calculations, and documentation.

The role requires pursuing a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering (ABET-accredited) with strong fundamentals in chemistry, thermodynamics, hydraulics, and fluid

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
• 3.0 Cumulative GPA preferred
• Knowledge of Aspen HYSYS and other process simulation tools preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suites
• General knowledge of process/water treatment technologies is a plus
• Good knowledge of Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Hydraulics, and Fluid Mechanics is required
• Works well in a team environment
• Willingly accepts multiple assignments with demonstrated flexibility in changing workload and priorities
• Good communication skills
• Demonstrated analytical skills

Responsibilities

• Assist multi-disciplinary team on design and engineering projects
• Help design industrial water/wastewater, desalination, and related systems
• Prepare PFDs and P&IDs for system technologies
• Create design deliverables in line with codes, standards, and company practices
• Utilize process software for hydraulics modeling and scenario studies
• Support project planning, schedules, and budgets with leadership
