Job summary

Kiewit Corporation's Lenexa, Kansas office is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to support design engineering within KIWE. The role focuses on learning to establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools, and applying them to project work.

Candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited), with a GPA above 3.0 and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with AFT Fathom/Arrow is a plus.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• GPA above 3.0 preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow hydraulic simulation software (or equivalent) is a plus.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of mechanical systems typical for biogas, bulk solids handling, water and wastewater treatment, pump stations, and pipelines.
• Assist in preparing design calculations and equipment specifications for listed facilities.
• Collaborate with the team in preparing/ reviewing design deliverables per industry codes and standards.
• Support coordination with design partners and review work progress and results.
