Job summary

NiSource invites students to join its 12-week Summer Operations Intern program, starting May 2027. The internship offers hands-on experience across Electric Planning, GIS Environmental work, and Continuous Improvement in a team setting.

Candidates should be enrolled in a university in GIS, engineering, accounting, or related fields, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. Location-based in Merrillville or Hammond, IN.

Qualifications

• Major in GIS, Engineering, Accounting, Operations Management, Business Management or related discipline.
• Required GPA 3.0 and above.
• Experience working independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Excellent analytical abilities including process analysis and root-cause analysis.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Strong verbal and written skills.
• Demonstrated problem analysis and solving.

Responsibilities

• Assist in Electric Planning including development of work plans and budgets.
• Collect data and prepare reports to monitor programs and forecasts.
• Support GIS Environmental tasks in Merrillville or Columbus locations.
• Contribute to Continuous Improvement efforts with the Transformation Office.
• Collaborate with team members and leaders on projects.
