Job summary

Despatch Industries, a division of Illinois Tool Works Inc., is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for summer 2027. The position will be based in Lakeville, Minnesota, with involvement across Engineering, Operations, and the Despatch Innovation Center.

You will assist in automation projects, help refine production processes, and analyze data to identify trends. This hands-on internship emphasizes quality, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver practical solutions.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor level or higher degree program in Manufacturing Engineering.
• Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
• High degree of technical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Assist in projects related to automation, layout changes and quality assurance.
• Collaborate with Operations and Manufacturing to develop and refine production processes.
• Investigate manufacturing challenges and design machine-based solutions.
• Analyze process data, identify trends, and present actionable recommendations.
• Help document and standardize procedures to ensure consistent product quality and performance.
