Job summary

GM Defense is seeking a highly motivated intern for a Manufacturing Engineer role onsite in Concord, NC. The intern will work closely with front-line teams on prototype vehicles, retrofits, and development programs to enable manufacturing execution and process improvement.

The role requires pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, with graduation between December 2026 and June 2028 and a full-time, 40-hour work week in a plant environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Support GMD build shop activities for prototype vehicles, vehicle retrofits, engineering development vehicles, and fleet vehicles.
• Coordinate with Salaried Technicians and Fabricators.
• Support material and inventory activities related to project vehicles.
• Work with Program Engineering Managers and Designers for design, fabrication and delivery of project vehicles and prototypes.
• Assist in developing manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Assist in developing tooling and equipment requirements.
