Job summary

General Motors is seeking a 2027 Summer Intern in Manufacturing Engineering General Assembly. You will gain hands-on experience across plant and corporate locations in the U.S., developing processes, equipment, and tools for multiple vehicle launches annually.

Locations include Warren, MI and various plants nationwide; roles involve learning, collaboration, and applying problem-solving skills to manufacturing challenges in a plant environment. Start May or June 2027.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology across multiple disciplines listed.
• Must be graduating December 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week during the summer months.
• Must be willing to work any shift, potentially including weekends.
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze product, process, and technology to craft best assembly methods.
• Recommend and validate improvements for existing processes.
• Support evaluation of innovative technologies for manufacturing challenges.
• Develop tools to improve program/project management.
• Assist in design, build, and validation of tools and equipment.
• Programming of manufacturing technology.
• Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Troubleshoot maintenance and equipment problems.
• Coordinate machinery and equipment upgrade projects.
