Job description

GENERAL DUTIES:

  1. Be responsible for the spiritual welfare of the summer camp maintenance staff.
  2. Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.
  3. Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters.
  4. Assist with the clean-up of the camp at the end of each session and summer.
  5. Prepare and deliver the Maintenance Crew Chief camp brief at summer's end.
  6. Assist with evening cabin supervision.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service or Assistant Camp Administrator.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Safety and Supervision
  1. Enforce camp policies and procedures.
  2. Maintain safety for staff and campers at all times.
  3. Ensure compliance with American Camping Association safety standards.
  4. Implement program components according to the daily schedule.
Weekly Responsibilities
  1. Organize daily devotions for maintenance staff.
  2. Prepare job assignments and schedules for maintenance staff.
  3. Supervise and direct the Maintenance Crew.
  4. Participate in planning daily devotions.
  5. Clean and prepare areas for campers and guests, including dusting, sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, restocking, and trash removal.
  6. Ensure buildings not in use are locked and secure.
  7. Conduct daily trash runs and litter patrols.
  8. Build campfires and prepare sleep-out locations.
  9. Maintain camp vehicles and equipment, including cleaning, waxing, and refueling.
  10. Keep the Maintenance Building and laundry rooms tidy and organized.
  11. Assist with maintenance projects as directed.
  12. Chop firewood or supervise staff in chopping firewood.
  13. Prepare amphitheater and fire for evening programs.
  14. Set up sound systems for events.
  15. Supervise setup and takedown for special events like the “Big Chapel” and Timberlake carnival.
  16. Work on special projects as assigned.
  17. Act as liaison between the maintenance crew and year-round staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist.
  2. Ability to grasp, push, pull, reach overhead.
  3. Operate telephone and computer.
  4. Lift up to 25 lbs.
  5. Access and produce information from a computer.
  6. Understand written information.
