University of North Carolina School of the Arts is seeking a Summer Maintenance Assistant to support campus facilities with routine labor, equipment setup, light custodial tasks, and basic repairs. The role runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, during the summer session.

Perform preparatory work for maintenance activities, including gathering equipment and supplies; loading and unloading materials and laying out materials and equipment for projects. Perform a variety of routine physical labor tasks depending upon area of assignment, including posting general notices, picking up litter and debris, painting curbs, painting walls, replacing light bulbs, emptying trash bins and performing minor custodial work. Completing other basic repair or maintenance duties as assigned by the supervisor.
The Department of Residence Life Programs & Housing cooperates with the campus at large to create a community environment conducive to personal and professional growth. Residence Life staff serve as peer educators, administrators, resource persons, and counselors. Professional maintenance mechanics provide facilities support and maintain rapport with students, creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive community for both high school and college student populations.
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
$17/hour
